The 2 Loop Films web site is now live. The site was designed to the specifications of the client, keeping the main interface the same size throughout the site. Please take a look at www.2loopfilms.com
2Loop Films, LLC, was formed in 2000 by partners Marius Balchunas, Ernest Koskin, Scott Sturgeon and John Veague with the goal of developing and producing both independent and major studio feature films. The company’s cornerstone is its proven ability to find and develop fresh, creative, and above all, commercially successful material.
On the independent side, NO VACANCY was developed, produced and financed by 2Loop Films and was written and directed by Marius Balchunas. The film stars Christina Ricci, Robert Wagner, Lolita Davidovich and Tim Olyphant. NO VACANCY premiered at the Moscow Film Festival, where Balchunas received the award for Best New Director. Lions Gate Films released in November 2004.
2Loop Films has demonstrated a sharp eye for emerging talent and an ability to nurture young filmmakers. The company developed, produced and financed the film MAY, which critic Roger Ebert called one of the best independent films of 2003. When MAYs writer-director Lucky McKee was still a student at USC, 2Loop recognized the potential in McKees student script and guided him in crafting the screenplay that ultimately attracted a hot young indie cast, including Angela Bettis, Anna Faris and Jeremy Sisto. MAY was accepted into the Sundance Film Festival in 2002, and proved to be one of that years most-discussed films. John Sloss of Cinetic Media repped MAY at Sundance, where it was purchased by Lions Gate Films, and released theatrically in 2003 to rave reviews.
In 2003, 2Loop Films co-produced THE IRIS EFFECT, starring Anne Archer, Agnes Bruckner, Kip Pardue and Mia Kirshner. This film was shot in St. Petersburg, Russia, with a $2 million budget. Cassian Elwes, Head of the William Morris Agencys independent film division, will be screening the film for buyers later this year.
2Loop Films development of studio-level projects also is proving extraordinarily successful. The company has found and developed a variety of projects that continue to attract respected Hollywood talent. 2Loop dusted off a nearly-forgotten 1980 Italian comedy, Il Bisbetico Domato, and re-conceptualized it into TAMING BEN TAYLOR, a romantic comedy set in the California wine country and starring Kevin Costner. Shooting begins in Summer 2005. Other projects currently in development include MATTER OF FATE, a remake of the top-grossing Russian film of the 1970’s; MD, written by recent USC film graduate Sean Siska; and WISHES, written by recent USC graduate Jessica Hill.
